Project Description

T0090-P Testing Near-Infrared Neuromonitoring Devices for Detecting Cerebral Hemodynamic Changes in Parabolic Flight

Program start date is on hold until Space Act Agreement is signed.  Placeholder date of January 2014 is used as placeholder.

This experiment will measure cerebral oxygenation and blood volume, including venous congestion during zero gravity.  It is important because there is a limited ability to assess brain physiology during spaceflight.  It is something that needs to be studied because of the visual impairments thought to be related to intracranial hypertension.  This experiment can be used by flight surgeons, astronauts, and first responders.
