The Human Health Countermeasures (HHC) element of the NASA Human Research Program (HRP), in a coordinated effort with the International Space Station Medical Project element, is addressing the near-term risk of “loss of Biological Sample Return” by developing point-of-care biomedical lab analysis capabilities for technology demonstration on ISS. Accordingly, this study proposes the comparison / analysis of four companies that are currently on contract with NASA to demonstrate blood analysis on their unique microfluidic platforms. The expected flight data will be used to advance the technology development effort of the down selected device that will eventually become an In-Flight Lab Analysis Technology for the ISS and possibly exploration missions.
