T0049-P Parabolic Flight Evaluation of a Hermetic Surgery System for Reduced Gravity

This experiment is being conducted to address the current problem that no apparatus exists to perform surgery in space (no methods for isolating surgical cavity, or managing bleeding). To address these requirements, a hermetic surgery system (HeSS) creates a hermetically sealed surgical field that controls and staunches bleeding during surgery by isolating the wound and creating an aqueous environment within the surgical field while leveraging current single incision laparoscopic surgical (SILS) techniques and instruments in clinical use.
