Autonomous Navigation, Guidance & Control (autoNGC) is an onboard autonomous software that integrates and controls spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) component-level hardware and software functions that are currently performed either onboard or on the ground. autoNGC enables rapid onboard autonomous executive decision and control for in-situ, time-critical dynamics spacecraft maneuvers: e.g., constellation re-configuration, in-space assembly, planetary and cis-lunar maneuvers, etc. The first year of this multi-year effort will focus on architecting it, designing, developing a high-level autonomy executive, and demonstrating minimum functionality. Beyond the current fiscal year we will mature the system through a series of hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test.
More »The benefit of autoNGC is the consolidation of separate GN&C sub-functions under an autonomy executive which will reduce development, test, and operational cost of complex space missions.
