NASA Technology Taxonomy

NASA engages in a variety of technology development activities to enable NASA missions by broadening knowledge of and capabilities in aeronautics, science, and space. To manage and communicate this extensive and diverse technology portfolio, NASA uses a technology taxonomy. This taxonomy identifies, organizes, and communicates technology areas relevant to advancing the agency’s mission.

    T-Rex: The Taxonomy Recommender

The TechPort team has developed the Taxonomy Recommender (T-Rex) to help NASA place technologies within the 2020 NASA Technology Taxonomy. T-Rex uses machine learning to recommend one or more classes for project classification at the third level of the hierarchy.
T-Rex is available as T-Rex is available as an API, and here in the TechPort application. Feel free to experiment, to see how the T-Rex algorithm places your technology. And please use the Feedback form in the top bar, to share your T-Rex experiences. T-Rex is still being trained, and your feedback will improve future recommendations.
T-Rex only generates recommendations. Project editors control the ways in which their technology projects link to the Taxonomy.
