Ion Control System (ICS) Characterization

Project Introduction

The Ion Control System (ICS) is a high specific impulse (Isp), low-thrust electric propulsion that is suitable for small satellite attitude control, precision orbit control, constellation formation management, and extended low-thrust maneuvers. This proposal is in continuation of MCAT FY17 IRAD to develop the system for GSFC CubeSat applications. FY18 will advance the technology from TRL4 to TRL5 with a product ready for a TRL6 demonstration flight. Goals are to extensively test prototype boards to characterize and verify design(s) and manufacture one or more systems ready for a potential TRL 6 flight demonstration.
