Cutting-edge, customer-driven research for entry systems in four areas: TPS Materials Modeling, including vastly improved ablator modeling capabilities for research and engineering; Shock Layer Kinetics & Radiation, from first principles to engineering models, including validation of Agency radiative heating predictions; Aerosciences, including advanced computational and experimental techniques; and Guidance Navigation & Control, including direct force control algorithms and technologies to enable precision landing of high-mass spacecraft.
Provides cross-cutting tools and technologies for modeling entry systems that improve performance, reduce mission risk, and enable new system capabilities across the breadth of NASA's entry, descent, and landing missions.
