The innovation brought to bear at 19-xxnm wavelengths nLight's design knowledge and experience from its highly successful 9xx-nm and 14xx-nm, high-efficiency and high-power laser diode programs. The expected performance for the laser at the conclusion of the phase I was 25% electrical-to-optical (E/O) conversion efficiency and 18 W continuous-wave power (CW) - both measured at 15C. The program was highly successful in achieving performance of 25W and 23% efficiency at 20C (5C warmer than projection). Such lasers meet the brightness and power requirements for the direct pumping of the quasi 4-level 5I7 to 5I8 transition in singly-doped Ho:YAG lasers. This work can readily be extended to 18xx-nm and 20xx-nm with comparable performance for application to the pumping of other solid-state lasers.","releaseStatus":"Released","status":"Completed","viewCount":811,"destinationType":[],"lastUpdated":"01/27/25","favorited":false,"detailedFunding":false,"projectContacts":[],"programContacts":[],"leadOrganization":{"organizationId":4852,"organizationName":"Langley Research Center","acronym":"LaRC","organizationType":"NASA_Center","city":"Hampton","stateTerritoryId":7,"stateTerritory":{"abbreviation":"VA","country":{"abbreviation":"US","countryId":236,"name":"United States"},"countryId":236,"name":"Virginia","stateTerritoryId":7,"isTerritory":false},"country":{"abbreviation":"US","countryId":236,"name":"United States"},"countryId":236,"zipCode":"23681","projectId":6020,"projectOrganizationId":14837,"organizationRole":"Lead_Organization","canUserEdit":false,"locationEdit":false,"organizationRolePretty":"Lead Organization","organizationTypePretty":"NASA Center"},"otherOrganizations":[{"organizationId":4852,"organizationName":"Langley Research Center","acronym":"LaRC","organizationType":"NASA_Center","city":"Hampton","stateTerritoryId":7,"stateTerritory":{"abbreviation":"VA","country":{"abbreviation":"US","countryId":236,"name":"United States"},"countryId":236,"name":"Virginia","stateTerritoryId":7,"isTerritory":false},"country":{"abbreviation":"US","countryId":236,"name":"United States"},"countryId":236,"zipCode":"23681","projectId":6020,"projectOrganizationId":14837,"organizationRole":"Lead_Organization","canUserEdit":false,"locationEdit":false,"organizationRolePretty":"Lead Organization","organizationTypePretty":"NASA Center"},{"organizationId":5172,"organizationName":"nLight Photonics Corporation","organizationType":"Industry","city":"Vancouver","stateTerritoryId":11,"stateTerritory":{"abbreviation":"WA","country":{"abbreviation":"US","countryId":236,"name":"United States"},"countryId":236,"name":"Washington","stateTerritoryId":11,"isTerritory":false},"country":{"abbreviation":"US","countryId":236,"name":"United States"},"countryId":236,"zipCode":"98665","dunsNumber":"799811646","uei":"L7A6MYHETLS6","cageCode":"3EY27","congressionalDistrict":"Washington 03","projectId":6020,"projectOrganizationId":16297,"organizationRole":"Supporting_Organization","canUserEdit":false,"locationEdit":false,"organizationRolePretty":"Supporting Organization","organizationTypePretty":"Industry"}],"primaryTx":{"taxonomyNodeId":11221,"taxonomyRootId":8817,"parentNodeId":11216,"code":"TX08.1.5","title":"Lasers","description":"Passive laser technologies, such as laser heterodyne radiometry, can involve low-power elements such as distributive feedback (DFB) lasers.
